Susan Philipsz

Susan Philipsz is a contemporary artist working in Glasgow, winner of the 2012 Turner Prize for her sound piece ‘Lowlands’ under three Glasgow bridges crossing the Clyde. In this artist to artist interview with Ross Sinclair, she talks about her childhood growing up in Maryhill, Glasgow, her youth working for militant and political organisations and her eventual application and acceptance to Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee from 1989_1993. Sinclair and Philipsz discuss her working practice, and the inspirations and themes of her work at length. Features short introductory still shots of the Transmission Gallery Research Room where the interview took place before the formal interview begins at 01.30 minutes.
